Chapelle des Bois is a mountain village situated in the Haut Jura where the occupants like to live a natural village life style.

You can appreciate the cross country ski runs including one of the most well known ski tracks the “Transjurassienne” which covers a distance of 76 km. passing through the neighbouring country of Switzerland.

You can discover the forest wild life under its winter coat of snow while walking with snow shoes, or appreciate a snow sleigh ride. We are near the village of Chaux Neuve where you can watch the impressive ski jumping competitions.

All year round you can enjoy the calm authentic friendly village with various sports such as long walks, cross country bicycling, golf, tennis and swimming in a pool or the local lake. All these activities enable you to experience a fresh air holiday at 1100metres.

In your excursions don’t forget to visit “La Roche Bernard” at1290metres, “La Roche Champion” at 1325metres and “Le Pré d’Haut” at 1276metres.

You can also cross the border to Switzerland(identity card or passport necessary)where you will find the buffalo park at Mont d’Orzeires, the iron museum at Vallorbe and of course the watch making industry.

During your stay you can taste various local cheese and meat dishes in the village and surrounding lodges.

For those who would like to visit our local industries we can arrange visits to the cheese factory of Morbier, the famous “Gentiane” distillery, and the local wood fabricant.
